Internship Program

SBD Event Management supports an internship program that provides growth and learning opportunities to students in college or post-graduate schools. The internship program is designed to provide students with professional experience in the furtherance of their education and training and are oriented for their benefit. Internships assist students in reaching their educational goals by giving them the opportunity to augment classroom instruction with exposure to a real world employment setting.

We offer 2 -4 internship opportunities per session.

Positions Available: Paid internship; course credit Internship

Program Dates 2024-2025: 

2024:  Fall  (August 15 - December 15 ) 

Application deadline is April 5.

2025: Spring  (January 15-June 7)   

Application deadline is  November 3.

We anticipate 2-4 interns per session. 

Work Schedule: Open work schedule; up to 40 hours per week including  weekend events (Student can still take classes depending on class schedule);  Opportunity may exist to earn money outside of internship to be determined.

The Program

Responsibilities to include:

  • Support and Run Events, Marketing, Communications ,Membership Program, and corporate partners with various projects.
  • Interns will be given the opportunity to plan and run events. Fall interns will work and plan 8-10 events, Spring interns will work and plan 10-12 events.

Candidate should possess:

  • Proficiency in computer applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong inter-personal communication skills
  • Analytical skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Capacity to think creatively and contribute new ideas.
  • Knowledge of and passion for sport or events.
  • Presents self in a professional manner and has ability to interact with all levels of organization and outside contacts.
  • Dependability – consistently at work on time, follows instructions, responds the supervisor’s instructions.
  • Ability to multitask and handle a variety of responsibilities.
  • Ability to think and react quickly and appropriately to unpredictable situations.
  • Available to work extended hours including: nights, weekends, holidays and attend company events.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when privy to sensitive information.
  • Positive and strong work ethic.
  • Willingness to help out with event-related tasks; sometimes physical or laborious
  • Strong organization/multi-tasking skills and detail-oriented mindset - Ability to be a self-starter--proactive and flexible.

Additional Requirements:

  • Proof of enrollment in college/university
  • For course credit: be able to furnish proof from school that candidate is receiving course credit for internship          
  • Junior/Senior or Graduate level status
  • Own transportation and living arrangements in the Indianapolis area.
  • Background in membership, non-profit work, sports administration & communications a plus.​
